Who we are

Hey y’all, my name is Ms. Greene, and I’m the owner and founder of Café Du Vert. I’d love to share the story of how and why Café Du Vert came to be.

My grandparents migrated to Southern California from Louisiana in the 1960s during the Great Migration, bringing with them more than just their belongings—they brought their traditions, their love, and their cherished family recipes. Gumbo, ice cream, pecan candy (pralines), cakes, and so much more filled our home. These are the foods I was raised on. The foods that brought our family together, warmed our hearts during the holidays, and always felt like home.

As time passes, people grow older, loved ones pass on, families drift apart, and precious history can be lost along the way. I knew I wanted to hold onto my family’s story as tightly as possible—to preserve our recipes, our memories, and the love woven into every dish.

Café Du Vert was created from that desire. It’s my way of honoring my roots and sharing a piece of my family with you. My hope is that when you enjoy one of our treats, you feel comforted, connected, and maybe—even just for a moment—like you’re back home.
